I was out of town on vacation last week but River Guardians Ohio was hard at work.
Johnny Ringo checked booms and collecting trash. Kat Donaldson was also on boom patrol and too collected trash as well as doing some survey work at the Cordova Project area. Storms came through last Saturday, there was one boom that wasn’t checked, Mud Run. It did what the booms do, held trash collected during the week until we could get there to clean out 21 bags, 450+ pounds and that was just one week as we had cleaned it the Friday before I went on vacation!
Couple things the booms highlight: First, by capturing the trash, they give a visual of just how much is coming through our storm sewers and potentially making it to major waterways during any rain event. Secondly, Simple grass roots solutions can solve complex problems.
