Mud Run received some much needed attention this morning.
Little over 100 pounds today. The video and my narration is about an hour and a half of time condensed down to 3 min. Even in my younger days I could not move like this.

Hidden under the snow is a fair amount of trash in the booms. Will likely be hitting that either Monday or Tuesday morning. The rainbow and discoloration is petroleum pollution most likely from our roads and parking lots all of which dump onto storm sewers and all of which dump into our waterways. There are…
I have not put out many posts recently as there have been many administrative things to fill my plate. Please know though, we are always out there on the waterways, cleaning, monitoring, recording, reporting, sharing, collaborating and being the best stewards we can be. A very special THANK YOU to all those that work beside…
Took Brad, Johnny and myself about 2 hours to clean out the trash collected in these Mud Run booms, but, it will now not end up spread out over hundred of miles of the Tuscarawas watershed. In the video I said I wouldn’t talk through it all, I did. Also said I would now be…
The rains Monday pushed trash through the storm sewers and right to the RiverkeepersOhio booms where it waits for us to collect. 3 bags today and about 48 pounds from the canal and Nature Center booms with a bunch more to pull from Mud Run when the water comes down a little. Johnny, in this…
Is this why the water quality around our booms on Mud Run has recently degraded? Our trash booms serve more than to collect trash entering a waterway. Because we are always checking the booms, we notice subtle changes in the water. We have been able to identify and have corrected several issues here and in…
This stretch collects a lot of trash before it gets lost in Tuscarawas, however, the water quality seems to be degrading since last year this time. We are working with agencies to figure this out and turn it back around.
Went out today to clean and this is what I found along Mud Run. Not wanting to call anyone out but we do need some help in this one section so it stays clean.
Spent some time collecting at Mud Run (3 bags 39 pounds), Wolf Creek (1 bag 8 pounds) and new boom off of Cordova (5 bags 59 pounds).
Therapeutic to watch these booms go from full of trash to clean!
