Getting ready to put in a boom up on the canal off Summit Lake
Canal Boom in place! 120 feet of trash catching magic deployed just south of Summit Lake that will help keep the lake cleaner. Fall Festival at Atwood Lake.
Walked into the festival site and what did we see… Zero Waste Event Productions with Shanon and Rural Action with John! I originally stopped to ask if they were separating water bottles because River Guardians Ohio could use them! They said yes and we will be picking some up at the end of the event….

Construction site north of Summit Lake lacking mitigation to prevent the soils here from directly polluting the lake we are working so hard to clean up.
OEPA was notified Wednesday and responded yesterday that they would look into it. Rains today and tomorrow…the system works slow. Wouldn’t it be better if folks just did the right thing instead of waiting for someone to tell them?
Quick ride along a proposed new boom site
Probably our biggest challenge is getting access to locations that would be perfect for boom placement as so much is on private property. However, that doesn’t stop us from a plan B. After the boat coming out of Summit Lake yesterday, the 40ish pounds of trash hauled out today seems small but it all adds up.
