A side benefit of having trash booms in the waterways and checking them regularly is you occasionally trap more than just trash.
OEPA did visit this boom today. We have not heard what this is exactly. When we know, we will share. Did get about 30 pounds of trash out.
Yesterday afternoon, River Guardians Ohio had the honor of spending time with a group of middle schoolers hosted by TomTod Ideas at the Reservoir Park Community Center.
We used this Ecoscape borrowed from Summit Soil and Water Conservation District to make pollution in our waterways, show where it comes from and how we can take measures to prevent and stop it. We have a new member, Jennifer, to the River Guardians Ohio club.
Along with Jennifer, Eric Fitch joined us today too and we pulled 15 bags at 177 pounds of trash from Mud Run keeping it out of the Gulf! In the video they share their thoughts. Thank you both and Dave for turning this 2+ hour job into about an hour.
Cleaned out the trash boom on the canal south of Summit Lake and then a lap around the lake proper.
49 pounds of trash in 4 bags isn’t too bad for a 40 degree day in winter and this view was my reward!
