Party for the Planet Review! 🎉🥳🌏
On Saturday, River Guardians Ohio, took to the zoo!! We were invited by the Akron Zoo to partake in their ‘Party for The Planet’ event in celebration of the upcoming Earth Day holiday.
It turned out to be a great day despite the downpour that started around 1:30 pm until the end at 5 pm. That’s when things pretty much shut down but we still stayed and were able to meet a few ‘die hard’ families that didn’t mind the cold and rain! 😂
To encourage visitors to visit all of the displays, the zoo held a scavenger hunt where each vendor was given an animal that the kids had to find and write on their sheets. We had the Eastern BoxTurtle!
With the help of my Author Assistant, Emma Setterfield, we created and printed up about 200 sets of four coloring pages, which were a huge hit! If it hadn’t rained, we would not of had enough. So note to self to print more next time! 🤣
Also a hit with the kids was our River Guardian stickers that has our logo! Wow, those were more popular than the coloring pages especially with the boys! Karen Freeman Letter Perfect Embroidery we need more! 🤣
Shown below is one family member sporting the sticker on their shirt as well as trying on one of our River Guardian Hats that Opa wears (this one was brand new – not used! Ha! ). She unofficially became a Junior, River Guardians Ohio Member! HA!
The postcards we had made up were also a big hit with the kids, but we don’t know why! Haha it ended up being a perk for us because we are hoping when the parents or grandparents sort through all the give-aways that the kids received, they just might read it and become interested!
The kids also loved all the photos of the animals we helped save by keeping our waterways clean and they asked alot of questions! A WIN! 😍
Along with our display being a success with the kids we got to see some of the animals along the path to where we were setup and of course watch the families enjoy the zoo!
All in all it was a great success for everyone involved! Thanks to Sam at the Zoo for inviting us!
