Cordova Project!
City of Akron employees spent some volunteer time with River Guardians Ohio pulling out 446 pounds of trash below the storm water outfall off of Cordova, much of which has been collecting there since 1962! The crew commented that every step they took had trash underneath and could only hear the crunching of plastic.
The team arrived at 8, we did a safety brief and off we went to clean the booms there and start pulling old trash…this lasted about an hour before we took cover from the storms that rolled through Akron at about 9. Then back to work until about 11. The team saw first hand how the storm sewers work as the rains brought more trash to the booms they had just cleaned!
