Our New Name!
You may have noticed that we have been laying low the past several weeks and now I am able to announce why.
As of Dec 9, 2025 we officially changed our name to River Guardians Ohio.
While we had done our due diligence when registering our old name, we didn’t dig deep enough. We received an email from Waterkeepers Alliance, an international organization that has the same passion for protecting our waters as we do. Turns out, they have trademarked a name similar to our old name. Without going through all the details, we respectfully went about changing our name.
Everything Happens for a Reason:
It does hurt with all we have had to do associated with the rebrand, the work, meetings, attorney and all the expense; we still find the positive. In keeping with our approach of facing challenges with a positive attitude, we feel this new connection with another organization will aid us in our efforts. They are doing wonderful things around the world and we are confident they will be available for information as we continue with what we are planning and accomplishing here with our watersheds in Ohio.
Over the next several weeks we will be updating our signs, swag and other branding. If you would like some of the new River Guardians Ohio swag, let us know! We will also be offering it as a fundraiser on our website in the near future.
All that said…we are itching to get back out there continuing to make a difference with our waterways. Actually, we have been doing a few things just not publishing our activities.
