River Guardian Johnny Ringo spent some time over the weekend down at the Cordova Project area.

We have mentioned and shown a few times one of our big goals. The removal of phragmites along the creek so we can better access and control the trash coming into the area and to better monitor pollution entering the watershed from the storm sewer outfall.

In this short snip, you can see Johnny cutting away using his homemade tool that simplifies the effort. It is what we do, “simple solutions to complex problems”.

A note: doesn’t look like much in the picture but he has removed about 2300 square feet during his last couple trips and we have opened the area downstream almost 50 yards making way for local species to gain a foothold.

Meet River Guardians Ohio: If you are interested in meeting Johnny or myself, we will be at the Nature Center on Summit Lake at 6pm on the 16th of January presenting the who what and where the River Guardians Ohio are and happy to share any of our projects. We can even show you the boom installed earlier in 2025 by the kids of the Nature Club that met at the Nature Center as a bonus. It is just outside the door!
